Interview with Helen Lederer-
Trent Park Archive & Media Project

Picture
Yesterday we had the privilege to have had the opportunity to conduct an interview with actress and writer, Helen Lederer who talked about Arnost Lederer, her late grandfather.

Big Baba, as she knew him, fled the Czech Republic for Britain with his wife and two children before Nazi oppression took control. It was only when confidential files were recently released that she became aware of his involvement with British intelligence.

As Trent Park is under care and maintenance by Middlesex University before the new owner purchases the site, we are not able to conduct tours of the house currently. Therefore we are starting an exciting new media project about Trent Park during the war time which will include Helen's interview with us. Check back here to find out more!

Helen Lederer says, "To know that he was at least able to be active, to fight back, to do something – that is really important to me."

We are very grateful for Helen’s time with us for the interview!

Welcome to Trent Park Open House!

Trent Park has a wonderful richness of history behind it, located at the heart of the ancient forest of the Enfield Chase, it was once used by royalty who hunted here for centuries. It was further developed and modified into a country house estate in the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It has passed through many owners who have each left their mark on the Mansion, landscape, formal gardens, picturesque woodlands and ornamental lakes all located here. The Trent Park estate we see today is the legacy of the last private owner of Trent Park, Sir Philip Sassoon who died in 1939 when the property ceased  to be a country estate.

We at Trent Park Open House want to raise awareness of the historical importance of Trent Park and plan to do this through a series of Open House events engaging the local community and wider public. Our aim is to preserve the heritage of the estate and reenact the stories of times past.

Please bookmark our website and check back regularly to keep up to date with our planned activities.
